The Accident

While traveling home from a family vacation, Jennie and her family were in an auto accident. The children and her husband are fine. During the accident Jennie sustained several serious injuries. Her spinal chord was injured mid-chest, her back was broken in several places and she will likely be paralyzed from the chest down. She also has head injuries with some swelling in her brain. Jennie has been unconscious since the accident. It could take 2-4 weeks for her to regain consciousness. She is scheduled for back surgery on Tuesday, June 26th. The surgery will repair the breaks in her back and it is estimated that the surgery will last 6-8 hours. We will update as new information becomes available.

She is fighting her battle in Salt Lake City, Utah with loved ones at her side. We know she is a fighter and she can pull through anything with the Lord's help. We love her so much. Thank you for your prayers and good wishes.

Jennie is an angel, the sweetest person we have had the privilege to share our lives with. We are very hopeful she will wake up and smile at us and be able to hug her darling babies and wonderful husband.

  1. I haven't had the pleasure of getting to know The Cornwall Family. When I got the first email my heart ached as if I've known them for years. Praying for a quick and peaceful recovery for them all. Thank you for this blog.

  3. We have been very good friends with the Cornwalls. We were all college friends together, used to be in the same ward, and my wife went to dental hygiene school with Jennie. We mourn with you all at this challenging time and pray that somehow, even in the midst of sadness and worry, you will see the hand of God in each of your lives. Our prayers are with you. We live in Salt Lake, can someone please let us know which hospital she is at. I don't know if she is taking visitors- but we are close if you need anything!!

  5. We just got Richard's phone message tonight letting us know about the accident and directing us to this blog. I didn't want to look. I had to read backwards from the most updated hopeful news first. I don't really have any words. Just crying. It's a stark reality check. I'm so sorry you guys are in so much pain. I know Jennie is tough so I'm choosing to believe in a miraculous recovery. We love you and will pray for you. Thanks for letting us know and thanks to whoever is updating this blog.

  7. I know it’s been a while but I hope she’s doing fine now. It’s hard to be in a serious situation like that. Not only is it going to be expensive, but painful as well. And I must say, it takes time to recover from a tragedy.
